  • How to Get Free Movies Without a Cable Bill

  • Almost two years ago when the bills were getting way out of control, I decided to give up cable. At the time, it just seemed like a luxury I could not afford. If you find yourself in a situation where you are finding the need to cancel cable due to a temporary financial setback, here are some ideas that will help you get through it.

RENT VIDEOS FROM YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY

Your library has many videos you can rent for free. One of the benefits about getting them from the library is that you avoid any fees if you don't get a chance to drop them off the next day. You have a whole week to return the movies. They have quite a variety of movies here at the Brandon Regional Library. You can find some of your favorite classics, such as, "Breakfast at Tiffanys", as well as many of the movies you might find on "RedBox" and/or Netflix.

TAKE THIS TIME TO LEARN ANOTHER LANGUAGE

Again, the library is a great place to start. It offers many different options in providing you with the right tools to learn this new language. When I found myself in this situation, I decided to take up french. Unfortunately I did not follow through, hence, I forgot what I learned. I found the library to be a great source for providing the needed tools to pickup the language.

USE THE INTERNET AS YOUR SOURCE FOR MEDIA VIEWING

The internet is a wonderful source for catching up with your favorite Shows. When I missed my episodes of General Hospital, I just went to: Soap2Day movies and also caught up with my favorite sitcoms, among them: "Modern Family". Another great source is Hulu. I love watching The Mindy Project and I always go to the HULU site to catch up with the latest episodes. They are not available on the same day, but since the viewing is free, I don't mind the waiting. They also have quite a variety of movies to offer.

    PURCHASE AN ANTENNA

You can purchase an antenna from Walmart, Target or Kmart for just under $50.00. This antenna once hooked to your television will access the main channels such as ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox. You may be able to find them at your neighborhood GoodWill or Salvation Army for a lot less.

    FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT

There are still some theaters that are only charging $2.50 for watching movies that have already been released. After a few months have passed, you can expect to find these movies at these theaters. I remember going to the one located in the University Parkway area in Sarasota, Florida. You will enjoy watching the movie for a lot less and it will be just as enjoyable. You can splurge on the soda and popcorn with the money you will be saving on the tickets.

I hope these tips can help you get through, since they were certainly helpful for me.
