  • Four defeats in a row by Timro - Djurgården leaves SHL

Djurgarden are dropping out of the SHL.

That's clear after four straight play-out defeats against Timro.

    - It's the worst thing I've ever had to go through... without a doubt," says Ludwig Rensfeldt of Djurgården.

After eight seasons in the top league, it was clear that Djurgården would move on to the hockey division.

Stockholmsklubben had the knife to their throat after three straight play-off series defeats to Timro. But after a tough period with two conceded goals in 56 seconds and a third setback five minutes later, Djurgarden were never able to bounce back in a fateful game.

Rookie Timro eventually won 3-1 and thus also got a new contract with SHL.

The Djurgården coach was visibly disappointed after the relegation because he understood how it could hit the partnership agreements with the betting sites.

    - It's very difficult to say how you feel. My first thought, of course, is that I have disappointed those who believed in us. That, of course, is the hardest thing," says Joakim Fagervall C More, the coach of Djurgården.

He also took the opportunity to pay tribute to Timro, who will also play in the SHL next season.

    - Timro is doing fantastically well. They should have huge praise for the way they are implementing this situation. They are professionals at this type of game.

    Ludwig Rensfeldt: "Damned and disappointed."

    Rensfeldt: "Impossible to describe..."
Ludwig Rensfeldt was the first Jurgård player to face the press after a tough evening.

    - I feel empty... I am angry and disappointed," he says.

    - I am also ashamed that we could not make it up to the Djurgården fans. It's impossible to describe how sad it is to play out of Jurgårgården from the SHL.

    "Looking forward to the matches."

While the Jurgårgården camp was depressing after the match, the home team's faces were much happier.

    - We keep working, however it looks like, and we lift each other up all the time. There was a lot of war and a lot of emotion, it certainly wasn't easy. I've been on their side twice too, so of course I'm suffering along with them," Jeremy Boyce-Rotewall tells SVT Sport and continues:

    - 'We tried to enjoy ourselves, there was a good atmosphere in both arenas. We had a strong group and we were looking forward to the matches, so we are winning.

Axelsson: "The tears speak for themselves."

Dif Dick Axelsson's profile was made later.

    - The tears speak for themselves, I'm completely devastated," he tells Aftonbladet .

Axelsson returned last winter, but now wants to put his skates on the shelf.

    - Yes, and knowing that you've made everyone disappointed in something that will end differently is not the feeling you want. Evil is just a name, he says.
